You know what we suddenly have a LOT in Mumbai? Mexican restaurants.
Every corner has one to the point that one might replace the humble Mumbai wada pav with a Taco.
But what the city lacks is a good Mexican restaurant. One that doesn’t add Guacamole and Sour Cream to every dish to make it sickeningly ‘Mexican’. One that steers away from the usual fare of Tacos, Burritos, and Salsa. That’s where The House of Chipotle or THC comes in.
Situated opposite Sammy Sosa at Oshiwara, THC and it’s cuisine are as different as chalk and cheese.
Born out of a simple concept of getting Chipotle popular in the city, THC whips out one dish after another laced with the magical (did I tell you it’s a secret recipe?) and luscious Chipotle sauce.
Here’s what I tried and liked at THC,
Cause a visit to a Mexican restaurant is incomplete without a bowl of Nachos on your table. The catch? It’s that they’re cold. Very different from the ones served elsewhere, THC’s Nachos were a dreamy affair. A bed of crispy chips, laden with refried beans, Chicken and lots and lots of Chipotle and cheese. You’ll obviously want to give these a go.
Fries are always good. THC’s Chipotle makes them better. With a thick layer of creamy sauce literally poured over freshly fried potatoes, the fries are excellent to taste.
Peanut Butter Chicken Panini
Peanut Butter is literally BAE. I’ve been known to empty entire jars of PB in a single sitting and when it’s combined with Chicken, how could I not relish the dish? Chipotle chicken, Chipotle sauce, chunky peanut butter and a dash of crispy lettuce leaves combine with the softest, most buttery panini bread to form this memorable delight. Oh how creamy, flavourful and spicy the Panini was! Brb, I know what I’m having for lunch today!
The Chicken Burger
With flat, buttery buns unlike any other Burger in town, THC’s version comes with a dollop of sour cream and Chipotle sauce which gives you a different taste kick with every bite. The grilled Chicken breast was grilled to utmost perfection rendering the burger at it’s juiciest best. How could you honestly not order that?
Chipotle Chicken Rice Bowl
The hero at THC though is the Rice Bowl. With its mouthwatering good looks, and winning taste, I’d bet my money on this wonder kid any day. Chipotle chicken, Corn, Guac, Salsa, Refried Beans, Sour Cream, Pico De Gallo, Avocado and of course, the omnipresent Chipotle sauce, all topped over a bed of fine lemony rice make this bowl a definite hit! Just with one bite, I was left star struck and how! Share it with a friend, as this is awesomeness begging to be shared.
The food is good, the service par excellence and the ambience, simple. Treat it more like a home delivery place or drop by for a quick dose of Chipotle goodness, it’s a good bet that THC is here to stay and serve.
